Steve and Kay Carpenter work in the greater Mexico City metropolitan area planting churches, training men and women in leadership roles, and developing the Hands of Life Community Center.
Kay serves as the Mexico field team leader for church planting and urban poor ministries. She works with CMF churches to plan the annual women’s retreat. Kay also develops relationships through community outreach, such as the English Club, support groups, and prayer walks.
Steve is a natural at meeting people and starting conversations. He focuses on friendship evangelism and Discovery Bible Studies. He also oversees the Hands of Life Community Center, preaches and teaches by invitation, and serves as a consultant and mentor.
The Carpenters joined the Mexico team in 1995. Currently they are involved in a community in northern Mexico City, where they planted an online church during the pandemic that now is beginning to meet in person.
In the coming months Steve and Kay will also be involved in a new semester abroad program (Exchange) as mentors, coaches, and leaders as they help young people work through their calling and learn about how to do cross-cultural ministry in a fruitful way. The Carpenters are the parents of two adult children and a grandson.
