The gift will still show up in your account records, but the missionary won't know who gave it.

Qore, a district of Addis Ababa, is a community marked by both deep resilience and heartbreaking pain. What was once a leper “colony” has grown into a densely populated area home to hundreds of thousands of residents—many facing disease, economic hardship, and the daily realities of poverty. Countless individuals can be found at the city trash dump (pictured here), scavenging through refuse to earn a living by selling what they find.

Despite the overwhelming need, numerous NGOs are working in Qore to pursue long-term transformation. Most efforts focus on serving women and children through after-school programs, educational sponsorships, and food distribution. Yet one critical group is often overlooked: men. With as many as 80% of households led by single mothers, many men abandon their families in the face of Qore’s harsh realities. Having been deeply wounded by hopelessness themselves, they often choose to leave rather than become part of the solution. And those who desire to stay and make a difference often lack the resources or support to do so.

CMFI has prayerfully stepped into this gap with a vision to change that reality through the launch of an urban community center. Among other initiatives, the center will include a workout space where young men can build relationships and encounter the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Through mentorship, Bible studies, and community service projects, we aim to disciple Christ-centered men who bring hope and transformation to their families and neighborhood with truly Good News.

The center will also provide opportunities for holistic development through children’s daycare, student fútbol games, English classes, and more. Through your gift to this ministry, Christ can meet the people of Qore in deep, personal, and life-changing ways.
