One of our greatest privileges at La Ruta is inviting past and current students to serve as interns. Interns play a vital role in the daily life of the community, building relationships with students and supporting ongoing ministry. During their internship, they also gain practical experience on a Globalscope team and explore how their unique gifts can serve God’s kingdom. This experience often becomes a pivotal step in discerning a future call to ministry—whether at La Ruta or abroad. Lu Suarez, a past La Ruta student, says the following of her internship:

“My internship at La Ruta completely changed my life and opened my eyes to the overwhelming power of God at work in our lives. It was truly the best year of my life—filled with laughter, deep learning, and a growing trust in God’s perfect plan for me. I began my journey at La Ruta as a student who wasn’t a Christian, simply searching for meaning, and I found in that community a safe and loving space where I could ask questions, wrestle with faith, and ultimately encounter Jesus for myself. The internship became my opportunity to not only grow but to share that newfound faith with others, serving and witnessing the same transformation in their lives that I experienced in mine. Today, I serve as a minister in the United States because of what God began in me through La Ruta—a truly life-changing experience that shaped my heart, my calling, and my entire future. That’s why I want this to be an opportunity for more people—to see my Uruguayan people experience the same love, grace, and purpose I found there, and to empower them to share and replicate the love of God wherever they go.”

Raising financial support is not a common practice in Uruguay, making it difficult for our students to do so. Thank you for helping us make these opportunities possible!
