Ash and Angi Barker are immersed in life and urban ministry in the community of Winson Green, near Birmingham, England. Their vision is to see a seedbed for urban change emerge from Winson Green that can help diverse urban leaders and shape our new urban world. The couple works through Newbigin House Community Trust, which focuses on neighborhood renewal in Winson Green, and Newbigin School for Urban Leadership, which aims to identify, form and equip diverse urban Christian leaders for our new urban world. Ash is also a community prison chaplain, speaks, mobilizes and teaches for urban mission widely and is the author of eight books. Anji is a trained social worker and a passionate speaker and advocate for social justice and discipleship.
Ash and Anji and their two children, Aiden and Amy, previously lived and served in Klong Toey, the largest slum in Bangkok, Thailand, for 12 years, developing poverty alleviation initiatives and empowering local leaders and churches to transform their neighborhood through Jesus.
